Mohanlal on AMMA row: Can’t take action against Dileep

few months ago, actresses Parvathy, Padmapriya and Revathy, had sent a letter to Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), asking them to provide a clarification on reinstating actor Dileep in the film body.

After two months, the actresses have once again sent a letter asking for a clarification on the issue. The film body convened a meeting on October 6 (Saturday) and stated that they have turned down the demand of the actresses belonging to Women in Cinema Collective (WCC).

Mohanlal, the president of AMMA, told the media that he cannot take any action against Dileep. He elaborated, “It is the general body of the association that has the power to initiate disciplinary action against any member. A legal advice was sought in this regard.”

On August 7, the WCC members convened a meeting with the AMMA members asking them to revise the bylaw of the film body. After the executive meeting, the office bearers of AMMA stated that the suggestions made by WCC can be implemented only after consulting legal experts.

The WCC members are yet to issue a statement in this regard.
