The Head of Marketing and Communications, within Royal Mail International, will lead the development and deployment of Royal Mail International’s commercial marketing and communications strategy to grow and retain consumer and business customer revenue and profit for all International Parcel and Letters products across Export, Import and Cross Border markets, aligned to Royal Mail International’s strategic plan.

About the role

Joining an expert team you’ll lead the development of Royal Mail International’s B2B and B2C marketing strategy for all sales channels, including Royal Mail sales team, direct marketing/advertising, POL and on-line channels/partners. Accountable for managing and influencing key stakeholders in Royal Mail International, Royal Mail Sales, Group Customer Marketing and Group Communications you’ll enable the effective delivery of Royal Mail International’s Marcomms and Salecomms plans.

Designing and leading deployment of marketing and sales campaigns, ensuring the business achieves clearly measurable results from revenue generating marketing activity in terms of revenue, cost savings and brand impact, delivering a positive return on investment, you’ll also review performance of all marketing and sales campaigns monthly against agreed KPIs; optimising activity accordingly, and reporting to the International Board through quarterly business reviews.

You’ll leverage customer, market/ competitor insight and research to develop multi-channel marketing activity to tailored customer segments and sectors whilst leading the development of customer led marketing culture and the management of relationships with all marketing suppliers; advising the International business on options, issues and progress. Responsible for leading the investigation and business case review of marketing change opportunities and innovations, such as building the customer value segmentation model  to develop a marketing and sales action plan to improve churn and lapse performance, you’ll manage budgets in line with business process and delegated authorities.

About you

Utilising your customer centric approach, with experience in the development of marketing strategy gained from a FTSE 250 or globally listed company, you’ll have a proven track record or delivering commercially successful marketing programmes with a focus on profit generation.

Your comprehensive knowledge of channel and campaign strategies, with the management of substantial budgets and acquisition/retention challenges, will be required for this key role within the business.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills alongside the ability to challenge and influence internal/external stakeholders (incl. board level) you’ll possess a collaborative and creative style, able to work cross functionally and effectively in virtual teams.

Skilful management of Market Intelligence and Customer/Competitor insight to drive effort and resource allocation is essential in additional to the ability to convert complex concepts and products into easily understood story boards for sales people and customers.
