A diamond grinding cup wheel is a metal-bonded diamond tool with diamond segments welded or cold-pressed on a steel wheel body, which usually looks like a cup. Diamond grinding cup wheels are usually seated on concrete grinder to grind cutting building materials like concrete, granite, and marble.
Diamond grinding cup wheels are used in different-roughness grindings. For smutty grinding, the bond should be softer and the diamonds’ quality should be higher because in this case, the diamonds become dull more easily. The diamond stones should be bigger, normally from 35 stones to 50 stones. For this is smutty grinding and big stones can improve working efficiency? The diamond concentration can be lower.
For fine grinding, the bond should be harder and the diamonds’ quality can be lower, as in this case the diamonds can last longer and a hard bond can also help the precision of the process. The diamond stones are normally between 80 stones and 120 stones, depending on the grinding requirements. The diamond concentration should be higher.
After being ground, the material can be further polished with resin-bonded diamond polishing pads of different diamond stones.
Diamond cup wheels are for grinding large amounts of material must be removed quickly; you should use diamond cup wheels, such as turbo grind cup wheels, single row diamond cup wheels and double row diamond cup wheels. Diamond cups are rigid, all-metal bonded cup wheels that have thick, diamond segments welded into the outer edge of the disc’s plate.
Diamond cup wheels come in a variety of styles and sizes. Larger diameters spin faster (and therefore engrave faster) and are more stable and less likely to dig into the concrete surface. Smaller diameter diamond grinding wheels are useful for smaller sections of floor or edges. A special edge grinding wheel is available that has a smoother face and wider diamond segments. Some diamond grinding discs are designed to be run dry or wet; it depends on the style and manufacture technique.
To smooth the floor (concrete surface, marble or granite floor, counter tops, etc.) after grinding with diamond cup wheel, or to what light grinding on a floor that does not have demented in it, diamond polishing pads are the best choice. The polishing pads are thin, flexible, Velcro-backed, diamond-impregnated plastic discs that stick to a Velcro faced backer pad. The backer pad can be flexible or rigid and can be either plastic or metal.
