Australia vs England, 5th Test Day 5: Australia beat England by innings and 123 runs; win Ashes 4-0

Ashes Australia beat England by innings & 123 runs to seal 4-0 series win

Sydney Cricket Ground on Day 5 of fifth Test witnessed a familiar story to that of the previous Ashes Tests – England dominating at one stage, remaining cautious for the most part and then going down in a heap at the fall of one wicket.

Till Lunch, England saw only one wicket fall to be five down but the sessions thereafter saw England collapse once again. Joe Root didn’t come out to bat again due to illness and that left the hosts with just four wickets to get and they did so with little resistance from the visitors.

Pat Cummins rounded off the series by taking home the Man of the Match honours while Steve Smith, deservedly, won the Man of the Series for yet another stellar showing.

The Australia bowlers made history of sorts with the quartet taking all 10 wickets in the second innings and emerging as the only wicket takers in the five Ashes Tests. In glorious scenes after the win, Australian side applauded the Barmy Army who turned up in numbers despite the series already lost.
